Panthers Split Two at AMCC Duals

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team hosted the AMCC Duals on Saturday afternoon and came away with 1 win and 1 loss over a pair of matches. They defeated Penn State-Altoona 46-5, and then fell to the eventual winners, Penn College 37-15.

The Panthers started their day with a dominating win over Penn State-Altoona. Cael Dailey started the match with a 14-0 major decision win at 125. After a pair of forfeits, Nikolas Fegert picked up a win by fall at 5:27, pinning his opponent in 5:27. D.J. Slovick and Gavin Thompson also picked up victories by pin at 174 and 285 respectively. Slovick won in 4:09 and Thompson in 1:09.

After a break, Pitt-Bradford closed the event with a dual match against Penn College. The Panthers got off to a quick start when Dailey pinned his opponent at 125 in 2:37, but it was one of only two victories in the match for the Panthers. Raymond Worsen also picked up a win by fall, pinning at 1:04. In the most exciting bout of the match, D.J. Slovick held off a late charge by his opponent to end the match tied at 13. In the sudden victory period, he was able to take down his opponent to earn a 16-13 win. 

After the event, the Panthers' dual record moves to 5-9 with a 1-3 record against AMCC opponents. They will be back in action on Thursday, January 16th, when they host Thiel in their final home event of the season. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
