Panthers Finish 14th at RIT Invitational

Rochester, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team traveled to Rochester on Saturday to compete in the difficult RIT Invitational. The Panthers could not earn a spot on the podium and finished 14th with a total of 16.0 team points.

D.J. Slovick picked up the most points for the Panthers, finishing with 5.0 in the 174-pound class. After getting pinned in the opener, Slovick dominated his next two opponents, winning by a 20-5 tech fall in the 2nd consolation round, and then pinning his opponent in the third in 2:01.

Cael Dailey and Cameron Carter-Green also won two matches each. At 125, Dailey lost his opening match but came back with a pin in the consolation bracket. He won a thrilling 7-4 sudden victory match in the 2nd consolation round before falling by a 7-3 decision to end his day. Carter-Green also lost his first match but battled back with an 18-3 tech fall victory and an 8-5 win by decision. His day came to an early end after an injury in the 4th round. 

Ray Worsen, Nik Fegert, and Cade Stern all added victories by pin in their respective weight classes.

The Panthers will return to action next Saturday when they will wrestle in a Trimeet hosted by Alfred State. The Panthers will take on the hosts and then SUNY Brockport in a pair of dual matches. The action begins at 12:00 p.m.
