Bradford, PA. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford hosted its first dual of the season on Tuesday night. The Panthers welcomed the Elmira Soaring Eagles to Bradford. The Panthers scored the first 30 points of the match and defeated Elmira 42-17.
The Panthers started the match with an 18-0 lead, as Cade Stern, Joe Magnano, and Dylan Slovick won by forfeit in the first three weight classes. Once the wrestling started, Pitt-Bradford added to its lead. Nik Fegert won by fall at 2:17, and then Ray Worsen took one second longer, winning by fall at 2:18.
After the Panthers fell by tech fall at 165, D.J. Slovick put the Panthers back in the win column with a dominating victory, pinning his opponent in 1:02 at 174. The Soaring Eagles pulled 12 points back with a forfeit at 184 and a pin at 197. Cam Carter-Green closed the match with a quick victory at 285. He pinned his opponent in 1:03 to finish the match with the Panthers ahead 42-17.
The victory moves the Panthers' dual-match record to 4-6. They will be back in action this weekend when they compete in the RIT Invitational. The action begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
