
Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team is set to begin their 5th season of competition under the direction of new head coach Zach Altman.
Altman takes the reigns of a program that finished 3rd in the AMCC Quadmatch and went 2-7 in all dual meets. They took 6th at Lycoming's Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational and earned 20.5 points at the NCAA Regional meet. D.J. Slovick finished in 7th place at 16 lbs. He was also a 2nd team All-AMCC honoree. The Panthers had two other wrestlers earn all-conference honors. Colton Gietler was 2nd Tam at 174, while freshman Gavin Thompson was 2nd team at 285.
This season, the Panthers will look to junior D.J. Slovick to lead a young but competitive group of wrestlers. Slovick will wrestle at 174 this season and was ranked 5th in the NWCA Preseason Regional Rankings. Raymond Worsen and Cameron Carter-Green will provide valuable upper-class experience, while Sophomores Uriah Morris, Jacob Rodgers, Nikolas Fegert, and Gavin Thompson will look to improve on impressive freshmen campaigns. The Panthers will also have a solid group of freshmen looking to step right in and compete immediately.
The Panthers begin their season on November 1st when they will face a difficult challenge against NCAA Division I and II wrestlers at the Boro Duals, hosted by Edinboro University. Pitt-Bradford's first home meet will be a dual against Elmira on December 3rd. In the new year, they will host the AMCC Dual Tournament on January 11th and then Thiel in another dual match on the 16th. AMCC Individual Championships are slated for February 15th and NCAA Regionals begin on February 28th.
