Greenville, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's wrestling team hit the road Wednesday night, as they traveled to Thiel for a dual match. The Panthers were able to pick up three wins and a forfeit but fell to the Tomcats by a score of 33-15.
The Panthers fell behind early, as Thiel was able to pick up 24 points in the first four bouts of the day. Eli Hernandez picked up the first win of the match at 157. He picked up his win by a 4-3 decision to put the Panthers on the board.
Pitt-Bradford continued to build some momentum after the Hernandez win, as they quickly picked up their second in the next bout. Tyler Newton was able to get another three points as he won at 165 with a 6-4 decision. Victor Elias doubled the Panthers' score at 174 as he picked up a win by forfeit.
The Panthers were unable to win at 184, sealing the dual match victory for Thiel. Chase Proudfit was able to pick up one final victory for the Panthers at 197. He won by a 7-1 decision.
Pitt-Bradford will be back on the mat this weekend as they will travel to Brockport for a tri-match with SUNY Brockport and SUNY Oswego.
