Brockport, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team split two matches at the Brockport Duals on Saturday Afternoon. They started the day with a tie-breaker victory over Alfred State, before falling to the hosts.
Against the Pioneers, the Panthers won all 6 contested matches, while all 24 Alfred State points came via uncontested forfeits.
- Colton Davis and Elijah Hernandez started the match with victories by decision at 133 and 141. Davis won 9-5, while Hernandez followed with a 7-4 victory.
- Nate Powley and Derek Ridgeway pinned their opponents to put the Panthers down 6 with two matches to go. Powley pinned his opponent in 5:05 to win at 165, and Ridgeway pinned in 1:24 at 184.
- Jason Reyes picked up his first collegiate contested victory at 197 in nailbiting fashion. He won his match by decision with the score finishing 15-14. Mitch Dowd secured the victory in the heavyweight class, winning by a 6-2 decision.
The Panthers struggled against Brockport, who have yet to allow their opponents to score a point in a dual match. This trend continued against the Panthers, as they won all 5 contested matches. 2 victories came by pin, two came by decision and 1 by tech fall.
Pitt-Bradford will return to action on Wednesday. They will host Penn State-Behrend in their final home event of the season. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
