Greensburg, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team started the 2nd AMCC Round Robin of the season on Saturday, bowling four matches in traditional scoring format. Despite posting the second-highest pinfall of the day, the Panthers split their four matches, defeating Pitt-Greensburg and LaRoche, while falling to St. Vincent and William Smith.
The Panthers started their day with their second-highest score of the season, defeating Pitt-Greensburg 929-741. Mackenzie Gill led the way with a score of 211, but Jaylee Koppenhaver was just behind her at 209. Brookelyn GArvey finished with a 189, while Erin Wales and Emma Pablic posted scores of 165 and 155 respectively.
Match two saw the Panthers take on first-place St. Vincent. The Panthers posted a strong score, but could not keep up with the Bearcats, falling 913-845. Olivia Shultz stepped into the lineup and had the best score for Pitt-Bradford, finishing at 189. Gill and Garvey were just behind Shultz at 184 and 182. Koppenhaver posted a 157 and Wales rounded out the scoring at 133.
Pitt-Bradford followed their first loss with a match against William Smith. They had their lowest team score of the day, ultimately falling 851-809. Pablic had the high score for the Panthers at 179, while GArvey was 8 pins behind her. Gill finished at 163 and Koppenhaver posted a score of 150. Shultz was the final Panther in the match and posted a 146.
In their final match of the day, Pitt-Bradford was able to strike back and dominate La Roche 836-578. Gill rolled her second 200 game of the day, finishing at 209. Garvey and Pablic were separated by just two pins at 166 and 164, while Koppenhaver and Wales were even closer with scores of 149 and 148.
Over four matches, the Panthers totaled 3,419 pins, which was the second most of the eight teams competing. They were well behind Saint Vincent in first with 3,718 but only 5 pins ahead of William Smith.
Mackenzie Gill had the best average for Pitt-Bradford, totaling 191.75 pins per match over 4 games bowled. Brookelyn Garvey finished 5th at 177.00. JAylee Koppenhaver averaged 166.25 pins per match and was tied for 10th. Emma Pablic bowled three matches and averaged 166.0 pins per match and Erin Wales averaged 148.67 pins per match over the same number of games. Olivia Shultz bowled in two games and averaged 167.5.
The Panthers will wrap up AMCC play tomorrow with the second day of competition at the Round Robin. They will take on Penn State-Behrend, Hilbert, and Alvernia with action beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Hillview Lanes in Greensburg.
