Panthers Wrap Up AMCC Round Robin 5-2, Tied for 2nd in Standings

Waterloo, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team finished up the first AMCC Round Robin of the season on Sunday morning, winning 2 of 3 matches to finish the event 5-2 overall.

The Panthers began their day with a matchup against Pitt-Greensburg, defeating the Bobcats 780-682. They started with two close wins, taking the first game 156-150 and the second 135-113. In the third game of the match, Pitt-Bradford exploded for a score of 223 in a 75-pin victory. They extended their lead in game four, winning 127-122, before dropping game five 139-149.

Match two saw the Panthers take on Penn State-Behrend. Pitt-Bradford started strong, winning the opener 183-161, but could not hold onto momentum, dropping the next two games 129-149 and 135-151. Trailing by 14 pins, the Panthers picked up a 164-153 win in the 4th to cut the deficit to three pins. In the final game, Pitt-Bradford could not make up the difference, falling 143-168 to drop the match 758-782.

To close the event, the Panthers took on the Hosts, William Smith, and battled back from the match 2 loss with an 838-795 victory. Similarly to the opening match, the Panthers won the first four games and then held on in the 5th to secure the match victory despite dropping the final game. They won game one 167-157 and game two 156-151. They extended their lead with a 175-162 win in match three and pushed the lead to 57 with a 168-139 win in the fourth. In the final game of the event, the Panthers bowled their best score of the match at 172 but still fell by 20 pins. 

The Panthers finish the round-robin with a 5-2 AMCC record, tied with William Smith and Penn State-Behrend for 2nd place. They will have one more event in the fall semester, hosting Penn State-Behrend for a dual match on Saturday, December 7th. The match will be held at Byllye Lanes in Bradford, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
