Latrobe, PA. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford hit the lanes in Latrobe, Pa. on Saturday as they competed in St. Vincent's Br. Pat Lacy Memorial Tournament. The Panthers went 2-2 on the day to finish in 6th place.
The Panthers started the day with a matchup against Alvernia. The Panthers were able to defeat the Wolves 856-796. Jaylee Koppenhaver led the way with a score of 197, while Brookelyn Garvey rolled a 183 from the leadoff spot. Olivia Shultz also had a strong match, finishing at 174.
The Panthers moved to 2-0 after an exhibition match, defeating D'Youville 818-774. Garvey had the high score for the Panthers at 192, while Shultz had her best game of the day at 185. Erin Wales chipped in with a score of 165.
The Panthers finished the day with 2 losses against tough competition, falling to Division II Belmont Abbey twice. They lost the first game 801-962 and then finished the day with an 819-868 defeat. Mackenzie Gill had the high game in both matchups, finishing at 198 in the first and 176 in the second.
In their bye, the Panthers bowled an exhibition match against Muskingum. The Panthers won the match 897-864. Garvey was outstanding, posting the Panthers' best score of the day at 227. Alexis Whitfield also had a strong match, rolling a 183.
Brookelyn Garvey had the 5th best average over 5 games at 190.80. Mackenzie Gill was 20th with an average of 166.6 per game. Erin Wales and Jaylee Koppenhaver both bowled in 5 games and had averages of 160.0 and 158.6 respectively.
