Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women’s basketball team is ready to begin their 2023-24 season as they look to return to postseason play after a three-season absence.

In 2022-23 the Panthers went 3-21 overall, with a 1-13 record in AMCC play, finishing in 8th place in the conference standings. The Panthers were led by senior Ashley Hall, who averaged 9.0 points and 7. Rebounds per game both leading the team. Then freshman Abigail Goss was a key team member for the Panthers, as she averaged 8.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in her debut campaign.

This season, the Panthers will look to a more experienced backcourt to pair with Goss inside, while adding a diverse skillset from their newcomers. Avery Benzel and Alexa Ackerman return to the backcourt after starting a combined 43 games last season. Ackerman averaged 6.0 points per game last season, while Benzel added 5.3 points and led the team with 3.1 assists per game.

The Panthers were predicted to finish in 9th place in the AMCC Pre-Season Coaches’ Poll.

Pitt-Bradford begins their season with a home game, as they will host Thiel on Wednesday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m. in KOA Arena. They will open up their AMCC schedule on November 29th, when they host conference newcomers Wells.
