Panthers to Wrap Up Homestand with Hilbert

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team will end a three-game homestand with a crucial AMCC matchup against the Hilbert Hawks. The teams are currently in a three-way tie for the 6th and final AMCC playoff spot.

The Panthers are 3-13 on the season, with a 1-5 record against AMCC opponents. Over the weekend,  the Panthers got off to a good start against Pitt-Greensburg, leading 19-16 after one quarter, but were unable to hold off the Bobcats, who eventually won the game 71-55. Abigail Goss led the Panthers with 14 points, making 6 of 12 from the field. She also had 6 rebounds. Alexa Ackerman scored 12 points in the loss, while Avery Benzel scored 10 points and finished with 6 assists. McKenna  Kelly grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench.

Senior Ashley Hall leads the Panther offense, scoring 11.1 points per game. She also leads the team's rebounding effort, grabbing 6.9 missed shots per contest. Sophomores Avery Benzel and Alexa Ackerman both add 6.9 points per game, while they serve as Pitt-Bradford's starting backcourt. Benzel averages 3.7 assists per game, while Ackerman adds 2.6. Freshman forward Abigail Goss has added important production from inside, scoring 7.2 points per game in her debut campaign.

The Hilbert Hawks have a 5-12 record this year and also are 1-5 in AMCC competition. They lost a heartbreaker to LaRoche over the weekend, as the Hawks made a potential game-tying shot at the buzzer, but the shooter was just inside the arc, giving leaving Hilbert one point shy at 65-64. Ashley Schroeder scored 23 points in the loss, while Mackenzie Catan and Grace Zabawa each added 12. Alesia Hamm collected 13 rebounds. Schroeder is the Hawk's leading scorer on the season, averaging 15.1 points per game, the 7th best average in the conference. Alesia Hamm scores 8.4 points per game and grabs 8.8 rebounds, which is the 4th highest rebounding average in the AMCC.
