Lady Panthers Looking for 2nd Straight Win against Bobcats

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team will host Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday afternoon, looking to move into playoff position.

The Panthers are 3-12 overall this season with a 1-4 record in AMCC play. They picked up an important win on Wednesday, bouncing back from a game-tying last-second three to defeat Alfred State 63-54 in overtime. Avery Benzel and Ashley Hall both scored 16 points in the game, with Benzel also registering 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Trinity Lockwood-Morris added 8 points and 8 rebounds off the bench in the victory.

Senior Ashley Hall leads the Panthers in scoring this year, posting 11.8 points per game, while also grabbing 7.0 rebounds per contest. She is in the top 15 in the AMCC in scoring. Starting guards Avery Benzel and Alexa Ackerman add 6.7 and 6.5 points per game respectively while averaging 6.3 assists per game between them. Freshman Abigail Goss averages 6.7 points per game from the post. 

The Pitt-Greensburg Panthers enter the game at 6-10 overall with a 2-3 record in AMCC play. They are led by a familiar face, as 2017 Pitt-Bradford graduate Darien Lantz is in her first season at the helm of the Bobcat's program. They are currently on a three-game losing skid, including a midweek 77-57 loss to LaRoche. Sidney McCully scored 23 points in the loss, while MAdison Scalese and Melina Maietta scored 12 and 11 points respectively. 

Mccully, a senior leads the team at 18.9 points per game, the 2nd best average in the AMCC. She is also 6th in the conference in rebounds, grabbing 8.0 per game. Just behind her in 5th in scoring is Maietta, who averages 16.2 points per contest.

Tipoff is currently scheduled for 4:00 p.m. but will be finalized at the completion of the men's game before it. Fans can join the student section in the game's theme, Jersey Day, wearing their favorite attire from professional and amateur sports. The Pitt-Bradford Diamond Steppers will also be performing at halftime.
