Panther Women's Basketball Looks to Return to the Win Column Against Pitt-Greensburg

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team is looking to return to the win column when they host the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers are coming off of a midweek bye which was much-needed by the squad as they had previously played 5 games over an 11-day stretch. They struggled to complete the stretch as along with the schedule congestion, the Panthers were also battling a few injuries which left them with a short bench. In the past 2 matchups, the Panthers have been led by their younger players as Jasmin Miller, L'aShyra Williams and Ashley Hall have posted double-figure scoring performances in the last week. Ashley Hall has taken advantage of an increase in playing time, scoring 13 points against Alfred State and following that up with a 10 point performance at Franciscan.

The Bobcats are 9-5 in the AMCC this season and are currently in a tie for 4th in the standings. They were able to come away with an important win on the road against Penn State-Behrend this Wednesday to force a tie with the Lions in those standings. They are led by Nadege Durand who leads the team in scoring (14.5 ppg) and rebounding (9.9 rpg) both of these numbers put her in the top 10 in the AMCC. Maddie Sitler is second in scoring for Pitt-Greensburg with 11.6 points per game.

The Panthers struggled in their previous matchup with the Bobcats. In their first game after the winter break, the Panthers struggled to get going offensively, leading to a 65-40 loss in Greensburg. Jasmin Miller led the Panthers with 11 points while Colleen Murphy scored 13 for the Bobcats.

Along with the action, Pitt-Bradford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the men's and women's tennis teams will combine their efforts to collect winter clothing items and socks during Saturday afternoon's basketball games. The two entities will be merging the SAAC for Socks and Hot Paws campaigns to donate socks and winter clothing items to those in need. During halftime, participants with donations and those who sign up will have an opportunity to win Pitt-Bradford apparel and memorabilia by tossing their donations into a hula hoop from the stands.

The game will begin at approximately 4:00 p.m. in KOA Arena.
