Slow Start Dooms Panthers

Alfred, NY. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team nearly erased an early 13 point deficit in their midweek matchup with Alfred State. They expended a large amount of energy in an early comeback but ran out of steam in the final quarter leading to a 66-51 loss.

  • Jasmin Miller was the early offense for the Panthers as she scored the first 9 points of the game for her team. She hit a jump shot early on to start the scoring and then once the Panther offense started clicking, made two driving layups and a three-pointer.
  • Ashley Hall chipped in a three from the wing and 3 free throws in the final 30 seconds of the half set the score at 21-18 through 1.
  • Jenna Hicks hit a jumper from the top of the key to begin the second and after Alfred State was able to push the lead back to 5, Daizjah Brown hit four straight free throws to get the deficit back to one point.
  • The Panthers were only able to score 3 points, a Jasmin Miller three-point play, over the final five minutes of the half, which allowed Alfred State to open up an 8 point lead at the break.
