Panthers Look to Pick Up 3rd Straight AMCC Win at Home

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's Basketball team returns to the KOA Arena for the first time in 2020 looking to continue their AMCC success in their home gym. They will host Penn State-Altoona on Saturday, looking to pick up their 3rd straight home conference win.

Before the winter break, Pitt-Bradford won two straight AMCC Home games against Franciscan and Medaille. In their first two contests of the new year, the Panthers fell twice on the road. They opened 2020 with a loss at Pitt-Greensburg, and then were unable to hold onto a 4th quarter lead during their midweek game at Penn State-Behrend. The Panthers are 2-5 in Conference play and are currently in a tie for 8th, sitting 1.5 games out of a playoff spot. Upperclass players Shirleah Ragin and Shaelyn Snipes share the team lead in points per game, both averaging 10.2 points per game. In her last game, Freshman La'Shyra Williams scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to record her first double-double in a Panther uniform.

The Lions are off to a strong start in conference play as they are in 4th place with a record of 5-2 against AMCC opponents. They are coming off of a tough loss to 2nd place Hilbert in their midweek game. Alexis Cannistraci leads the lions, averaging 16.6 points per game, the second-best average in the conference. Additionally, she is second in the AMCC in 3 point shooting percentage, hitting 42.4% from beyond the arc and leads the Lions in rebounding with 8.7 boards per game. Also in the top 10 in scoring average is Finnley Christine, who scores 14.2 points per contest. Sydney Snyder and Sarah Huston are also averaging double-digit points per game, scoring 12.0 and 10.5 points per game.

Along with the game, the Pitt-Bradford tennis teams continue their "Hot Paws" campaign. The team is still collecting donations and winter clothing to provide Bradford Area schools with appropriate clothing and accessories for the winter. Items will be collected in the lobby of the McDowell Sport and Recreation Center.

The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
