CRESSON, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team put together a second-half comeback but fell just short at Mount Aloysius, 54-50.
With the outcome of Saturday's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game, Pitt-Bradford moves to 7-8 in AMCC action and Mount Aloysius improves to a level 8-8 in conference play.
Jennifer Isenberg led the team with a double-double of 12 points and 11 boards while Etreece Adams was one board shy of a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Shaelyn Snipes played all 40 mins and scored 11 points.
Points came at a premium as both teams shot a low percentage. Mount Aloysius shot 31.9 percent from the floor while Pitt-Bradford connected on 30 percent of its field goals.
Pitt-Bradford was 2-19 on three-point attempts while the Mounties connected on seven three-pointers.
The Mounties jumped out to a hot start and stormed to a 22-10 lead at the conclusion of the first quarter.
But Mount cooled down and was held just two made field goals in the third quarter.
The Mounties eventually took a 33-20 lead into the half.
The Panthers awoke in the third, though.
Led by six points from Isenberg and a three-pointer from Shirleah Ragin, the Panthers dropped 18 points and held the Mounties to 10 to tighten the gap and bring the score to 43-38 into the final quarter.
Both defenses buckled down as the first points of the fourth quarter from either team weren't scored until a Mount Aloysius free-throw at the 6:19 mark, then Snipes recorded the first field goal of the period with a layup on the ensuing possession.
Snipes followed up a Panther stop with a pair of made free throws to pull to within two points with under six minutes to play.
Mount Aloysius answered with a three-pointer, but a free throw and a bucket from Snipes once again brought it to within two points with 4:11 to play.
The Mounties continued to get their buckets and eventually held onto win.
Pitt-Bradford won the battle on the boards, out-rebounding the Mounties 46-37.
The Panthers pulled in 19 offensive boards and turned those into 22 second-chance points while limiting the Mounties to just eight such points.
The Mountie defense forced 18 Pitt-Bradford turnovers while the Panther defense forced 16 Mountie turnovers.
Ragin led the Panthers with two steals while Adams blocked as many shots.
Up next, Pitt-Bradford will wrap up its regular season with three games at the KOA Arena this week, starting with a make-up game with Franciscan at 4 p.m. Monday. The Panthers will also host Penn State-Altoona Wednesday and Penn State-Behrend Saturday.
