Lady Panthers roll over Lions, 60-45

BRADFORD, Pa. – Three Panthers turned in double-digit scoring efforts, including senior Alicia Kimmel's double-double, that allowed the Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team to roll past the Penn State Behrend Lions, 60-45.

Kimmel's 18 points, 10 rebounds and one assist came by way of her 9-for-20 shooting effort on the court. She added six steals to her afternoon totals.

Junior Abby Brate worked her way to 14 points, one rebound and four assists, including a 4-of-5 afternoon at the charity stripe. Junior Allison Osborne rounded out the top performers with 11 points and five rebounds to go with six steals.

Pitt-Bradford (5-4, 2-1) jumped out to a comfortable first-half lead and carried a 33-19 advantage into the break. Penn State Behrend (0-10, 0-4) racked up a total of 24 turnovers during the contest to the Panthers' 12. That margin ultimately made up the difference in the outcome.

The second half appeared to be much closer as Pitt-Bradford held a plus one advantage in the scoring, 27-26. The defense held tough in the end and the Panthers came away with a big win over a conference rival at home.

The Panthers finished the game shooting 37.9 percent from the field and connected on 10-of-14 shots from the free-throw line.

Penn State Behrend shot 33.9 percent and hit just two of 13 attempts from behind the arc. The Lions were 5-of-10 from the stripe.

Head Coach Patrick Daniel came away from the contest pleased with his team's effort and performance.

"I am happy with the win today," he remarked. "Defensively, we played well but we have to do a much better job on the boards and being more physical and aggressive. We are looking forward to being back on our home court on Wednesday."

Pitt-Bradford hosts Hilbert on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
