Pitt-Bradford wins big in its Pink Game against D’Youville, 85-42

BRADFORD, Pa. – Pitt-Bradford's women's basketball team came away with a huge win in an 85-42 route against D'Youville College.

Pitt-Bradford (15-6, 12-3) had five players reach double-digit scoring. Alicia Kimmel (Pine Grove/Pine Grove) led the Panthers with 26, sophomore Kaserra Owens (Bradford/Bradford) with 18, sophomore Brittany Watts (Johnsonburg/Johnsonburg) with 12, junior Abby Brate (Wrightsville/Eastern York) with 10 and freshman Ali Rinfrette (Bradford/Bradford) with 10 as well.

D'Youville (9-14, 5-12) was led offensively by Bridget Andrews who contributed 11 points for the Spartans.

Straight from the starting whistle, Pitt-Bradford took control of the game. The Panthers started on an 11-2 run that was capped off by an Owens three-pointer.

The Panthers continued to outshine the Spartans in the first half by way of excellent shooting from the field. Pitt-Bradford shot 59.4% from the field and held D'Youville to only 33.3%.

Contributing to that excellent shooting percentage was Kimmel, who shot 8-9 from the field with 16 first-half points to go along with seven rebounds. Kimmel helped lead the Panthers to a 41-20 lead going into the locker room.

The second half started much like the first with the Panthers doing everything right at both ends of the floor. Pitt-Bradford kept its foot on the gas pedal, not letting up at all against the Spartans.

The Panthers exhibited incredible effort on defense in the second half, holding the Spartans to shoot only 17.9%.

The Panthers were firing on all cylinders against D'Youville as they look to carry their momentum into the weekend against number-one ranked AMCC opponent La Roche College.

Pitt-Bradford head coach Patrick Daniel said, "Great team win tonight. We played a full 40-minute game and I am so proud of every player on this team for how we executed on both ends."

Daniel went on to say, "Thank you to everyone who wore pink and supported our Play 4Kay game tonight."

Pitt-Bradford will go on to face La Roche College Saturday, February 14, at 1 p.m. in Pittsburgh.
