Alicia Kimmel tabbed Second Team All-Great Lakes Region

BRADFORD, Pa. – Pitt-Bradford women’s basketball senior Alicia Kimmel (Pine Grove/Pine Grove) has been named to the 2014-15 D3hoops.com Second Team All-Great Lakes Region, the only Panther to have received the honor.

Kimmel was one of only 146 basketball players in the United States to be named to one of the eight regional teams.  A total of 711 players were nominated; players were chosen by schools’ sports information directors. This is the 14th season D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams. 

Kimmel adds a Second Team All-Region selection to her arsenal of awards collected this year that includes her Player of the Year award for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and First Team All-AMCC selection.

Kimmel scored her 1,000th point this season on Nov. 15 and is only the eighth player in program history to score 1,000 points, only the third player in program history to be named AMCC Player of the Year and the only Panther to be named to the Great Lakes All-Region team.

Kimmel finished her career with 1,385 points, which puts her fourth for all-time points scored by a Panther.

Kimmel is also second in career field goals made (545), fourth in career free throws made (274), fourth in career free-throw percentage (73.3), fifth in all-time rebounds (643) and eighth in career field-goal percentage (46.8).

She finished her senior season leading the Panthers in scoring (15.8), rebounds (6.9) and field-goal percentage (50.1).

Pitt-Bradford head coach Patrick Daniel said, “I am very happy and proud of Alicia on achieving this wonderful recognition and making the D3hoops.com Great Lakes All-Region Team.  For Alicia to be the first player in our program history is a great testament to the outstanding season she had.  This is great honor for Alicia and our Pitt-Bradford Women’s basketball program.”

During her final season as a Panther, Kimmel led Pitt-Bradford to a second place AMCC finish that included a bye in the first round of the AMCC Tournament.
