
Bradford, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team picked up six All-AMCC honors and one postseason award after a resurgent season that saw them tally 25 wins.
Sara Stroup was the only Panther to make the first team, while also picking up AMCC Newcomer of the Year honors. Krislyn Clement, Lexi Peters, and Faith McLaughlin made the 2nd team, with Clement being recognized as a pitcher and a shortstop. Bri Heller wrapped up the all-conference selections, making the 3rd team as a pitcher.
Sara Stroup, a native of Hughesville, Pa., became the first Panther freshman to be voted as the conference’s top newcomer since Sarah Angeletti won the award in 2010. Stroup was also named to the 1st Team as a utility player, splitting time at catcher and shortstop. Stroup hit .438 for the season, posting a .541 on-base percentage, which was 2nd in the AMCC. She totaled 9 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run, 27 RBI and 32 runs scored. In AMCC play, she slashed .333/.483/.578 with 17 runs scored, 12 driven in, and 8 extra-base hits, including one home run. She reached base in all but one game this season. Stroup was named AMCC Player of the Week twice.
Krislyn Clement, a sophomore from Webster, N.Y., earned dual all-conference selections, as she was voted to the 2nd team as a pitcher and as a shortstop. She is the first Panther to earn two all-conference honors during the same season since Sydney Mosby completed the feat in 2014. Clement was lights out as the Panthers’ ace in the circle. For the season, she posted a 10-4 record with one save. She posted a 2.05 ERA over 92.0 innings while striking out 78 batters. Against AMCC opponents, she was 5-2 with a 1.98 ERA and 40 strikeouts. She finished the year 3rd in the conference in wins, and ERA, and was 7th in strikeouts.
Offensively, Clement hit .365 with 14 extra-base hits, 1 home run, 24 RBI and 22 runs scored. Her 7 triples were the most in the AMCC and 16th in all of Division III. In conference play, she hit .347 with 15 RBI, 13 runs, and 8 extra base hits. She earned AMCC Pitcher of the Week honors one time.
Senior Lexi Peters of Ambridge, Pa. earned a spot on the 2nd All-Conference team at third base. This season she hit .376 with 33 RBI, 12 extra base hits and 20 runs scored. Her 33 RBI was the 4th most in the conference. In AMCC play, she was 7th in the AMCC with a .436 batting average, 3rd in RBI, and 6th in hits with 23. She was also a mainstay at third base, fielding her position at a .928 clip, committing just 3 errors in AMCC play at the hot corner. She was named AMCC Player of the Week 1 time. This is her 2nd appearance on the All-Conference list, as she made 2nd team as a DP in her freshman season, 2021.
Faith McLaughlin, a senior from Tucson, AZ., also made 2nd Team All-AMCC as an outfielder. The speedy leadoff hitter hit .368 with 27 runs scored, 21 driven in, 2 home runs, 5 doubles, and 4 triples while also stealing 9 bases. In AMCC play, she posted a .357 average with 14 runs scored, 12 RBI, 1 home run, and 6 stolen bases. She was also named to the AMCC Tournament All-Tournament team. McLaughlin previously had two all-conference selections, making the third team in the outfield as a freshman in 2021, and a junior in 2023.
Freshman Bri Heller, a local product from Duke Center, Pa., wrapped up the Panthers’ all-conference honors as she was named to the third team as a pitcher. Heller was 9-4 on the season, posting a 2.79 ERA over 82.2 innings pitched. She led the Panthers with 80 strikeouts. And was 2nd in the AMCC with strikeouts per 7 innings pitched at 6.77. In AMCC play, she was 6-2 with a 2.33 ERA over 45.0 innings pitched with 44 strikeouts. She threw a no-hitter against Hilbert and was named AMCC Pitcher of the Week once.
