
BRADFORD, Pa. — The Pitt-Bradford softball team came away with a sweep against Juniata to finish out their 2015 season,
Junior Meagan Hillard (Bradford/Bradford) went a perfect 3-3 in game one against Juniata with an RBI and a run scored.
The Panthers got on the board with a junior Leann Bell (Lance/West Branch) solo home run in the bottom of the second to make it 1-0.
The Panthers put up two more in the third after RBIs from Hillard and senior Bri Stenta (Ridgway/Ridgway) to go up 3-0.
Juniata answered in the fourth inning after a Holly Bettinger two-run home run to cut the Panthers lead to 3-2.
Senior Krista Jacobs (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca) shut the door on the comeback chance for the Eagles as the Panthers held off Juniata to take game one, 3-2.
The bats woke up in game two as the Panthers had three players have three hits in the game with junior Amber Fox (Warren/Youngsville) going 3-5, Stenta going 3-4 and senior Ang Comilla (Bradford/Bradford) going 3-4.
Juniata started out on top, getting three runs in the first inning off of five hits to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
The Panthers came out with 12 runs in the first three innings scoring two in the first, three in the second and seven in the third to take a commanding 12-4.
The Eagles tried to chip away at the Panthers lead by getting two in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 12-6.
The Panthers put up one more in the sixth after an RBI double from freshman Taylor Collins (Macedonia, OH/Nordonia) as the Panthers took game two, 13-6.
Pitt-Bradford head coach Tina Phillips said, "It was a nice way to end the season for us and our six seniors. I just asked them today to play our best games to end the season and they responded."
