Panthers Men's Soccer Downs Bobcats 5-0 In AMCC Opener

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team hosted Pitt-Greensburg for its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener Saturday at the Kessel Athletic Complex, defeating the Bobcats in dominant fashion 5-0.

With the victory, Pitt-Bradford improves to 4-3 overall and starts conference play 1-0 while Pitt-Greensburg drops to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in AMCC contests.

Thomas Kelly led the way for the Panthers with three goals and an assist. He now leads the team with five goals on the season.

In goal, Sihle Sizani stopped all nine of the shots sent his way to earn his second clean sheet of the season.

Pitt-Bradford jumped out to an early lead with a goal from Chase Rider off a feed from Spencer Sklar just seven minutes into the contest.

Almost exactly one minute later, Kelly buried his first goal of the day off a pass from Rider and the Panthers took a 2-0 lead that would eventually hold until halftime.

Eight minutes into the second half, Kelly took a corner kick and found Michael Giopulos, who sent it past the Greensburg keeper for the third Panther goal.

In the 63rd minute, Sizani found Kelly with a deep clear, and Kelly took it in and past the Greensburg defense and in for his second goal.

Then Kelly capped the Panther scoring with a finish off an assist by Pearson Liddell to give the Panthers a 5-0 lead they'd eventually hold onto.

Pitt-Bradford outshot Pitt-Greensburg 23-11 and put 15 shots on goal to the Bobcats' nine.

Rider led the team with five shots on goal and Kelly had four.

Oluwaferanmi Soyemi put two shots on goal while Ugwunna AmadiScott CompsonT.J. Magro and Giopulos put one shot on goal apiece.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will host Houghton Tuesday at 4 p.m. for its final non-conference match of the season.
