ALFRED, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2019 season in overtime at Alfred, 4-3, Wednesday.

Pitt-Bradford (3-1) held the lead in the second half but an Alfred (2-3) goal in the 56th minute held strong through regulation, allowing the Saxons to win it in overtime.

The Panthers started the season 3-0, the program's best start since 1999.

The first goal of the contest came in the fifth minute of regulation as the Saxons found the back of the net on a header.

Pitt-Bradford tied it up in the 21st minute as a Thomas Kelly sent a strike past the Alfred keeper.

But Alfred regained the lead just two minutes later, making it 2-1.

The lead would be shortlived as Brent Kennedy found his offensive rhythm, scoring a pair of quick goals, the first in the 24th minute and again just two minutes later to put Pitt-Bradford ahead, 3-2, heading into halftime.

Nine minutes into the second half Alfred re-tied the score, and the two teams held strong for the remainder of regulation. 

18 minutes into overtime, though, Alfred scored its fourth and game-winning goal to take the OT victory.

The Saxons narrowly outshot the Panthers, 18-14.

Pitt-Bradford put half of its total shot attempts on goal, led by Kennedy's three shots on goal. 

Kelly put two shots on goal, while Chase Rider and Scott Compson had one shot on goal apiece.

The two-time reigning AMCC Defensive Player of the Week Sihle Sizani played all 98:31 minutes in goal for the Panthers, making five saves along the way.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will play its second-straight road match as it heads to Baldwin Wallace Saturday for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
