BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team started its 2019 season with a convincing 3-0 win against Bethany at the Kessel Athletic Complex Saturday evening.

Chase Rider scored the first goal of 2019, before Thomas Kelly and Spencer Sklar scored the first goals of their collegiate careers.

Sihke Sizani played all 90 minutes in goal and stopped all five shots sent his way for his second career cleansheet.

Before his goal, Kelly took the ball deep into the Bethany zone and fed Rider in front of the next, who buried it in the 14th minute.

Then, after a penalty in the Bethany box during the 27th minute, Kelly took a penalty kick, which he sent past the keeper in the lower-right part of the cage to put the Panthers up 2-0.

After halftime, Sklar gained possession in the Pitt-Bradford zone, and took the ball all the way to the Bethany goal along the right side, eventually sending a strike past the charging keeper.

The 3-0 would hold tough, and the Panthers would begin the season 1-0.

Pitt-Bradford out-shot Bethany 29-9 and earned a 10-2 advantage in corner kick chances.

The Panther attack forced the Bethany keeper to make 21 saves as well.

Rider shot the ball a game-high five times while Ugwunna Amadi and Kelly had four shots apiece.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will look to continue its winning ways as it heads to Thiel Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
