ALFRED, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team fell 4-2 at Alfred State Tuesday in its 2018 season finale.

"It was a tough back-and-forth game," Head Coach Nate Whitehurst said. "Alfred State had the better first half and we couldn't catch up in the second."

Pitt-Bradford ends its 2018 campaign 4-14 overall. The Panthers' 3-6 record landed them just one spot out from qualifying for the AMCC playoffs.

Chase Rider scored both goals for Pitt-Bradford, finishing the season with a team-leading seven goals and 15 points.

Nearly 20 minutes into the contest, Rider took a feed from J.T. Magro to take an early 1-0 lead.

But Alfred State answered quickly, tying the game just seven seconds later.

At the 34:13 mark, the Pioneers took a 2-1 lead with their second goal of the contest.

The Pioneers' lead would be short-lived -- nine seconds to be exact.

Rider equalized nearly instantly taking a feed from Alex Lincoln and sending it past the keeper at the 34:22 mark.

But two quick Pioneers' goals before halftime would put Alfred State back on top 4-2 heading into the break.

Despite eight shot attempts from the Pioneers and three from the Panthers, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half and Alfred State held on for the 4-2 win.

Derrick Brock started in goal for the Panthers and played the first half before being relieved by Sihle Sizani. Both keepers made four saves, Sizani keeping the Pioneers out of the net for his 45 minutes.

Pitt-Bradford fired eight total shots and put three on goal. Ryuta Hayakawa, Ugwunna Amadi and Rider fired two shots apiece. In addition to Rider's two goals, Aidan Perez was also credited with a shot on goal.

Tuesday's contest marks the final competition for Pitt-Bradford's five seniors Derrick Brock, Dakotah Graham, Ryuta Hayakawa, Colin Irwin and Noah Black.

Pitt-Bradford is set to return 20 members of its 2018 team next season.
