Rider Scores Twice To Lift Panthers To 3-1 Win

NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Freshman Chase Rider scored the first two goals of his collegiate career to lead the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team to the first win of 2018 Saturday over Muskingum, 3-1.

Ryuta Hayakawa assisted Rider's first goal and netted a penalty kick in the first half to help boost the Panthers to a win in the second and final game of the Appalachian Soccer Showcase season-opening tournament.

"We started off strong today," Head Coach Nathan Whitehurst said. "We got an early goal, which helped us control the game. We fought hard the entire game and it paid off in the end."

The win evens Pitt-Bradford's record at 1-1 through its first two games of the 2018 season.

Off a feed from Hayakawa, Rider found the back of the net just 1:34 into the contest.

Muskingum later tied it at the 31-minute mark, but the tie would be shortlived.

They'd never look back.

just under 20 minutes into the second half, Rider found the back of the net once again to give the Panthers a commanding 3-1 advantage.

Pitt-Bradford would later hold on and secure the victory.
