Mount Aloysius Bests Panthers On Senior Day

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team fell to Mount Aloysius, 6-0, Saturday in the team's final regular-season match of 2017 at the Kessel Athletics Complex Saturday.

"We didn't play our best today," Head Coach Nate Whitehurst said. "Mount Aloysius is a very good team, and they exposed our weaknesses the way great teams do."

Prior to the start of the game, seniors Matthew PerrySteven McFetridgeWyatt MayEthan AcasterTyler Koch and Mohammed Al Qahtani were honored for their time as Pitt-Bradford student-athletes.

Mount Aloysius scored its first goal of the game eight minutes into regulation and later doubled its lead at the 23-minute mark. 

Acaster fired a shot at the 30:19 mark that went on goal, looking to put the Panthers on the board. But the Mount Aloysius keeper made the save. 

Pitt-Bradford fired three shots and had as many corner kick opportunities in the first half but the 2-0 Mounties' lead would last into halftime.

At the 52-minute mark, the Mounties grabbed a third goal, then another one minute later.

They took a 5-0 lead three minutes after that with a goal at the 56:29 mark.

One final goal with 10 minutes left in the half gave the Mounties their 6-0 win. 

In the second half, the Panthers earned their chances as they had six corner kicks to the Mounties' four. 

In goal, Derrick Brock made eight saves, four in each half.

Lucien Kalkhof had a pair of shots while Acaster, Al Qahtani, Hunter Pennypacker, Ugwunna Amadi, Noah Black and T.J. Magro had one apiece to make up the Panthers' eight shots.

With the loss, the Panthers are now 2-6 in AMCC play and still have a shot at a playoff berth with the season coming to a close next week. 

Pitt-Bradford will wrap up its 2017 regular season at D'Youville Tuesday.
