La Roche Bests Panthers Saturday

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team fell at La Roche, 8-0, Saturday afternoon.

"We did not play our best today," Head Coach Nate Whitehurst said. "And against a good La Roche team, it really showed."

La Roche scored its goals with five in the first half and three in the second.

Early in the first half, the Panthers put together a strong scoring push as Wyatt May and Steven McFetridge tested the La Roche keeper and put shots on net at the 9:59 mark.

Shortly after the start of the second half, May fired two more shots that were saved by the La Roche keeper, first at the 45:14 mark and later at the 47:47 mark.

Ryuta Hayakawa earned a chance at the 73.02 mark as put a shot on net that was saved.

The Panthers fired 12 total shots, led by May with three. Matthew Perry had a pair while Michael Giopulos, Ethan Acaster, Hunter Pennypacker, Nicholas DiStefano, J.T. Magro, Hayakawa and McFetridge had one apiece. 

In goal, Derrick Brock made 10 saves.

The Panthers will be in action next on Wednesday as Penn State-Behrend comes to the Kessel Athletics Complex.
