ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford struck first but ultimately fell, 4-1, at Nazareth Tuesday evening in the 2017 season's non-conference finale.

"We did really well to score the first goal against the run of play," Head Coach Nate Whitehurst said. "But Nazareth kept coming at us and was able to score a few before the half, which was a big momentum change."

The Panthers got the offense going as they scored just 15 minutes into the game.

Ryuta Hayakawa sent a long pass in the air across the field to the right side, finding Steven McFetridge's foot, who kicked it before it hit the turf and sent it inside the left post.

The goal came just seconds after the Panthers missed scoring by inches. Wyatt May fired a shot that hit the crossbar and went bar-down but landed in front of the goal line.

But three goals in the final 20 minutes of the first half -- including one in the closing seconds -- sent Nazareth into the half ahead, 3-1.

One more goal for Naz rounded out the scoring in the game and the Soaring Eagles held on, 4-1.

Derrick Brock made eight saves in goal for the Panthers.

Freshman Jack Kellam saw his first action of the season in goal, playing the final 14:57 of the game and making three saves.

May led the team with two total shots. Ethan Acaster and McFetridge had one apiece.

The Panthers will be in action next on Friday as they head to Pitt-Greensburg to resume conference play.
