Thiel Slips Past Pitt-Bradford Men

Thiel slipped past the Pitt-Bradford men's soccer team Friday, scoring in the final minutes to steal a 1-0 road victory.

A scoreless game until the 84th minute, Thiel's Zachary Oliver won possession of a loose ball played into the box and narrowly beat Pitt-Bradford's Colin Frownfelter for the eventual game-winner. The goal came shortly after Mohammed Al Qahtani's header went wide for Pitt-Bradford, and only minutes earlier had the Tomcats' keeper stopped Steven McFetridge's kick from the top of the box. Pitt-Bradford would fail to muster a shot in the final six minutes, denying the Panthers of their first win.

The Panthers were aggressive from the start, easily playing their best offensive match to date. McFetridge was also denied earlier in the first half and Federic Agou's attempt at a rebound sailed high. Matthew Perry had an opportunity to push the Panthers ahead in the 73rd minute yet his kick went wide of the net.

Pitt-Bradford was outshot 12-6, and Thiel held a slight edge in corner kick attempts, 5-2. Frownfelter finished with three saves in between the pipes.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 0-5 on the season and travels to Houghton Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start.
