Men's Soccer Falls to Alfred

Alfred handed the Pitt-Bradford men's soccer team its fourth straight loss Tuesday, shutting out the Panthers 4-0.

The Saxons wasted no time, netting their first goal within the opening four minutes of play. James Piombino flicked in a corner kick attempt to stake the visitors to a 1-0 lead. Richard Lander pushed the advantage to 2-0 in the 27th minute, corralling a forward pass through the middle and beating the goalkeeper. Alfred's Sam Craver extended the lead to 3-0 just before half, scoring on a set piece from the left side of the box, and the Saxons added another goal late regulation to cap the scoring.

Pitt-Bradford's best shot to break through for a goal came in the 40th minute when Brian Bao attempted to chip a shot over Alfred's Chris Gutierrez, but the keeper punched the ball away at the last second.

The Saxons outshot the Panthers 25-6 and held a 16-2 advantage in corner kicks. Colin Frownfelter collected eight saves, and Bao led the Panthers with three shot attempts.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 0-4 on the season and hosts Thiel Friday at 3 p.m.
