Eagles Edge Panthers in Home Opener

Eagles Edge Panthers in Home Opener

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team battled for 90 minutes, but ultimately fell just short in a 1-0 loss to Juniata on Wednesday afternoon at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

"I thought we played really well today," said Pitt-Bradford men's soccer coach Darek Panol. "We created a good amount of scoring chances for the most part."

The Panthers were tough very tough defensively, limiting the Eagles chances to score. However, Juniata surged through the stout defense in the 78th minute to break the scoreless tie.

"They really didn't have many clean chances all game, but they took advantage of the one they had late in the game," Panol said. "Unfortunately it proved to be the difference in the game. Overall though, I think the boys are progressing well."

Dani Meyer-Arrivilla took a feed from Sheridan Doan and buried it into the back right corner of the net to give the Eagles the 1-0 victory.

Amadou Sow and Samuel Franchi played well up top, creating the majority of the scoring chances for the Panthers. Colin Frownfelter was terrific once again for the Panthers in goal, collecting seven saves.

The Pitt-Bradford men's soccer team returns to action Saturday afternoon at one against Alfred State at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
