Panthers Take 2nd After Tiebreak, Kamuda Finishes 3rd

Bradford, PA. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford golf team kicked off their season by hosting the Pitt-Bradford Kickoff Classic at The Pennhills Club on Saturday. The Panthers finished tied for the lead at 310 but dropped the tiebreaker to finish in 2nd place for the tournament.

The Panthers finished tied with Pitt-Greensburg through the top four golfers. The tournament champion came down to a tiebreak scenario, with the winner decided by the lowest score for the team's 5th, unscored player. Pitt-Greensburg used a score of 86, while the Panthers carded a 93 to drop into second. The Panthers cut 21 strokes off of their score from 2023. 

The Panthers had 3 golfers finish in the top 10. Brody Kamuda led the team, finishing in 3rd place with a score of 75. He carded 4 birdies, including 2 on the last 3 holes. Ben Tubbs had a strong round for Pitt-Bradford, finishing with a 77, which put him in a tie for 5th. Freshman Michael Peterson had an impressive debut for Pitt-Bradford, firing a 78, which put him in 7th place. Max Bizzak rounded out the scoring for the Panthers, carding an 80 to finish in a tie for 11th. Shane Wetherington was the 5th Panther, shooting a 93.

Three Panthers also competed in the event, playing as individuals. Freshman Brady Susi shot an 81 to put him in 16th. Senior Andrew Heinze shot an 86, improving his score from last year by 4 strokes. Conner Sauer finished at 110, putting him in 49th place. 

The Panthers will be back in action next weekend when they travel to the Altoona Area for the Mountain Valley Classic, hosted by Penn State-Altoona and Mount Aloysius. The first round will be played at Sinking Valley Country Club in Altoona, with the final round at Summit Country Club in Cresson on Saturday.
