Panthers Finish 10th after 2nd Day of Mountain Valley Classic

Altoona, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford golf team shaved 20 strokes off of its round one score on Sunday, moving up to finish in 10th place after two days of competition in the Altoona area.

Playing at Sinking Valley Country Club, the Panthers shot a 316, which was the 6th-best score of the day. 

Their total score for the two-day tournament was a 652, which put them in 10th. Penn State-Altoona won the event with a score of 599.

Individually, every Panther improved on their score from round 1. Ben Tubbs stayed consistent for the Panthers, firing a 77, which paired with his 78 on day one gave him an 11th-place finish at 155.

Connor Smith also shot a 77, taking 10 strokes off of his first-round score. Curt Barner was the big mover of the day for the Panthers. He had a 12-stroke improvement between the two rounds, posting his lowest score of the season. He tied for 50th.

Brody Kamuda finished the tournament in 45th place after pairing a second-round 83 with the 84 he shot yesterday. Max Bizzak also shot an 83. Bizzak shot the same total score as Barner, finishing with a 170 in 50th place.

Drew Heinze played as an individual and also had a large improvement in his score. He shot a 95 in the second round, cutting 10 strokes from round one.

The Panthers will be back in action midweek, as they travel to Latrobe to play in the Saint Vincent Invitational. Tee times begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
