Panthers Take 5th Place at Mountain-Valley Collegiate Classic

Cresson, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Golf team was able to move up a spot on day two of the Mountain-Valley Collegiate Classic on Saturday, finishing the event in 5th.

On the second day of the competition, the Panthers improved their team score by two strokes, finishing with a 338. Their combined score for the two rounds was 678. Westminster won the event with a 589. They were followed by Penn State-Altoona at 598, Penn state-Behrend at 641, and Mount Aloysius at 653.

Broderick Kamuda had an excellent second day, leading the Panthers by shooting a 9-over par 81. He finished the event tied for 24th, posting a combined 168. Evan Jordan also finished in a tie for 24th. After recording an 85 on day 1, Jordan Improved his score by two strokes to shoot an eleven-over 83.

As they did on day one, Jarod Chaffee and Sean Campbell finished with identical scores to tie for 36th place. They each shot an 84 on the first day and posted 89s on the final round to finish the tournament at 173. Drew Swanson shaved 5 strokes off his round 1 score to fire an 85 on day two. He finished just two strokes behind Chaffee and Campbell, putting I'm in a tie for 41st. Dominic Puma competed as an individual for the Panthers. He shot a 96 to finish in 50th place with a 193.

The Panthers have a quick turnaround, as they will have an off day Sunday, but travel to Buffalo on Monday to play in the Medaille Invitational. The tournament will be held at Diamond Hawk Country Club in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
