Panthers In 6th after Day 1 at Mountain-Valley Collegiate Classic

Altoona, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Golf team returned to action on Friday, playing in the opening round of the Mountain Classic, hosted by Penn State Altoona. After the first round, the Panthers sit in 6th place with a 340.

The Panthers had a consistent grouping of scores as the four scoring finishers for the team finished within4 strokes of each other. Jarod Chaffee and Sean Campbell led the way, each shooting 12-over par 84s. They are both tied in 22nd. Evan Jordan finished the round just one stroke behind them, firing an 85. Broderick Kamuda closed out the scoring, posting an 87. Drew Swanson shot a 90, while Dominic Puma, playing as an individual, shot a 97.

Only 11 strokes separate the Panthers from 3rd place, Mount Aloysius. They are 7 strokes behind Penn State Behrend and 6 behind Juniata.

Pitt-Bradford will be back in action tomorrow when they play the second half of the event. It will be hosted by Mount Aloysius and held at Summit Country Club in Cresson.
