Panther Golfers Take 3rd at Altoona Invitational, Fiore takes 5th

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford golf team fired their way to a 3rd place team finish in the Penn State Altoona Invitational on Saturday.

The Panthers shot a 34 over par 322 as a team. They were 5 strokes behind Penn State Behrend in 2nd and 14 behind the hosts, who shot a 308.

Individually, Johnny Fiore put in another strong performance, leading the Panthers with a 6-over 78. His score was good enough for 5th Place. He finished 6 strokes behind the winner Andrew Ferguson, of Penn State-Altoona, who shot an even-par 72 on his home course.

Upperclassmen Jarod Chaffee and Nick Mole put in strong performances as well, tying for 11th place, both shooting an 81.

Freshman Sean Campbell was just one stroke behind Chaffee and Mole, finishing in 14th. Evan Jordan rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with an 84.

Finally, Freshman Drew Swanson matched his classmate, carding a 10-over 82 while playing as an individual performer. He had the lowest score among individual players.

Pitt-Bradford will have one more tournament to get back into the swing of things before the AMCC Championship Tourney. On Monday the 12th, they will head to Fox Valley Country Club in the Buffalo Area for the Medaille Invitational.
