Cordova Medals at James Bowen Invitational, Team Finishes 3rd

Erie, Pa -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Golf team finished in 3rd place at the James Bowen Invitational on Monday. Cooper Cordova finished in a tie at the top and won the tiebreaker to win the event which was held at  Lawrence Park Country Club and hosted by Penn State Behrend.

Cordova fired a 3 over-par 75 to finish in a tie with Penn State Behrend golfer Ryan Meyer, who was playing on his home course. Cordova opened with a 38 on the front nine and closed strong with a 37 on the back.

Head coach Keith Stauffer said, "Our other golfers struggled to find a rhythm," as they all finished in the 80s, which is above their season averages this year. Cary Ignaczak finished tied for 8th, as he shot an 81 for the round. Sam Marchini was just a stroke behind to finish with an 82, good for a tie for 10th and Matt Moonan and Jaime Rook shot 84s to round out the team.

As a team, the Panthers shot a 322, which was 9 strokes off the winners, Penn State Behrend Blue and 7 strokes back of 2nd place Penn State Altoona.

The team will look to right the ship during practice this week, as this tournament closed the regular season for the Panthers. They will look to defend their 2018 AMCC Conference Championship next week at Avalon Lakes Country Club in Youngstown, OH. The tournament has a two-round format. Day 1 will begin on Sunday, October 13th, with the final round coming the next day.
