Panthers Dominate Westminster Invitational
Sep 30, 2019

New Castle, Pa -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Men's Golf team picked up its third consecutive team victory at the Westminster Fall Invitational. Held at New Castle Country Club in New Castle, PA, the Panthers finished with a 15-over-par 303, which gave them a 12 stroke victory over their closest competition.

Individually, Cary Ignaczak fired an even par 72 to finish tied for the low round of the day. Unfortunately Ignaczak did not own the tiebreaking score, giving him a t-2 finish for the invitational.

Matt Moonan and Cooper Cordova both shot 4-over 76 to finish in a tie for 7th. All of the Pitt-Bradford golfers finished in the top half of the competition, as Sam Marchini shot a 7-over 79, Jamie Rook shot an 11-over 83 and Jarod Chaffe finished with a 12-over 84.

When asked about today's performance, head coach Keith Stauffer said, "It was a good team win. Cary is just in the zone right now. He's playing some really good golf. I hope it continues for a few more weeks. The other guys came through too. Cooper and Matt played solid rounds." Looking forward, he said, "We're still making a few mental errors. We just need to clean those up and we will be fine."

The win was the Panthers' 5th of the season, and their 3rd in a row. They will return to action on Monday October 7th when they will play in the Penn State-Behrend Invitational, held at Lawrence Park Country Club in Erie, PA.
