Pitt-Bradford Closes Regular Season With Win At Hilbert Invitational

HAMBURG, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team wrapped up its 2018 regular season on a high note, winning the Hilbert Invitational at Brierwood Country Club Thursday.

Pitt-Bradford originally tied with Medaille with a score of 316 for first out of the four teams competing. But the Panthers picked up the win by winning a tiebreaker.

"It was a good day of preparation for the coming weekend," Head Coach Keith Stauffer said. "The course was very sloppy, but we hung in there and plodded along."

Hilbert finished third with a score of 365 while D'Youville came in fourth at 375.

Johnny Fiore led the way for the Panthers as he finished fifth overall with a score of 77.

Cary Ignaczak and Matt Moonan finished two strokes behind Fiore at 79, tied for sixth.

With a score of 81, Jamie Rook also finished in the top 10, eighth overall.

Cooper Cordova rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with an 85, good for 11th overall out of the 23 total golfers competing.

After Thursday's action, Pitt-Bradford will compete in the season's main event: the two-day AMCC Championship at Avalon Lakes in Youngstown, Ohio, Sunday and Monday.
