Panthers Finish Fifth In Westminster Invitational

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team finished fifth out of 12 teams in the Westminister Invitational at the New Castle Country Club Monday.

The Panthers shot a 335 as a team, finishing one stroke behind Mount Aloysius for the AMCC lead.

Saint Vincent and Grove City tied for the victory at 324 followed by the host Westminster in third place at 327.

"We lost all out momentum from last week's great finish," Head Coach Keith Stauffer said. "We will get it back, though. I'm confident that with a few days of practice, we'll be right there. We just looked a little rusty for some reason. The course also played extremely difficult today."

Cary Ignaczak, Matt Moonan and Johnny Fiore each shot an 82, tied for 15th out of the 63 golfers competing.

Cooper Cordova finished 37th overall with a score of 89, and Jarod Chaffee shot a 93 for 46th best.

Pitt-Bradford will be in action next on Monday, Oct. 1 at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational at Lawrence Park Country Club to end the regular season.

The 2018 AMCC Championships are set for Oct. 7-8 at Avalon Lakes in Youngstown, Ohio.
