Panthers Finish First At Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team finished first with a score of 306 at Summit Country Club hosted by Mount Aloysius Sunday.

"Victorious!" Head Coach Keith Stauffer exclaimed. "Matt picked up the two-day championship through today and yesterday. I'm very proud of the team. We're onto La Roche Tuesday."

Matt Moonan tied with Penn State-Altoona's Jimmy Gillespie with scores of 74, and the two players went to a tiebreak to decide the individual winner. Moonan made the Panthers proud and picked up the win, taking the individual winner honor.

Moonan also picked up the victory of the "Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic" that combines the scores from yesterday's event at Penn State-Altoona and today at 148.

The Panthers' score of 306 bested the day's event, three strokes ahead of Penn State-Altoona at 309.

Behind Moonan, Cary Ignaczak and Cooper Cordova both finished with scores of 77, and Johnny Fiore was close behind at 78.

Jamie Rook rounded out the Panthers' performers with a score of 85.

The victory wraps up a successful weekend for the Panthers, which finished second in the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic at 617, tying with Penn State-Altoona for the win but losing in a tiebreak based on combined drop scores from both days.

The Panthers will then head to Wildwood Country Club hosted by La Roche Tuesday to continue their momentum.
