Panthers Finish Day One Of AMCC Championships Tied For Fourth Place

WARREN, Ohio -- The University of Pittsburgh men's golf team finished day one of the two-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships tied for fourth place with a team score of 314.

"We're in great shape heading into tomorrow," Head Coach Keith Stauffer said. "At just two strokes out of second place, that would be an outstanding season for this young team. If each player can tighten their game up tomorrow, we will definitely move up the leaderboard."

Cary Ignaczak earned the second-lowest recorded score at 72 to lead the Panthers, two strokes out from the leaders.

The trio of Matt Moonan, Jamie Rook and Sam Marchini each shot an 80, which was tied for 15th best of the 53 golfers competing.

Brett Gardner rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with an 83, tied for 21st.

The tournament team champion will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament which will be held May 15-18 in Greensboro, N.C.
