Butler, DeLoof Cap Historic Season with All-Region/District Awards

Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team's historic 2024-25 campaign came to an end in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament, but the accolades continue to roll in, as star player Jamarion Butler and head coach Jesse DeLoof received All-Region/District honors on Tuesday.

Butler, who had already been named a 1st Team All-AMCC performer and conference Player of the Year, became the third player in program history to be recognized by D3hoops.com for their all-region team. Previously, Evan Greening made the 2nd team in 2016-17, and Matt Beacom made the first team in 2001-02. He is also the first Pitt-Bradford player to be recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as he also was named 1st Team All-District for District 7.

Butler led the Panthers and the AMCC with 20.3 points per game this season, including 20.0 in conference play. He was also 5th in the AMCC with 7.2 rebounds per game, 10th with 3.1 assists per game, and 2nd in steals per game with 2.1. Butler also leads the AMCC in free throws made, hitting 138 at a 73% clip.

"Jamarion is one of the hardest workers and most consistent players I have had the opportunity to coach," said DeLoof. "Receiving these accolades is a testament to the full body of work that he has put in over the past two seasons, not just one strong performance."

DeLoof also picked up his second postseason honor. Along with being named AMCC Coach of the Year, DeLoof was additionally named Region 7 Coach of the Year by D3hoops.com. DeLoof led Pitt-Bradford to the best season in program history, finishing 24-4. The 24 wins are the most in a season in program history. The team's win over TCNJ was the program's first NCAA Tournament win. DeLoof inherited a team that won 1 game in 2019-20, and after missing the 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has steered the Panthers to 9, 12, 14, and 24 wins.

"I am appreciative of the honor and want to give as much credit as possible to my assistant coach, Nate Schneider, and the whole team. Without the hard work and determination of the entire program, these honors would not be possible."

With their inclusion on the NABC All-District and D3Hoops.com All-Region teams, both Butler and DeLoof are in consideration for All-American and National Coach of the Year Honors. Those awards will be announced at the NCAA Division III Final Four this weekend.
