Men’s Basketball Looks to Continue to Rise in 2023-24

Bradford, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Men’s Basketball team is ready to begin their 2023-24 campaign looking to build on their successful campaign last season, which saw them return to post-season play for the first time since 2016-17.

The Panthers posted a 12-15 record last year, with a 5-9 mark in AMCC play that saw them tie for 5th place in the AMCC standings. They returned to the playoffs for the first time in 5 seasons and were even able to pick up a win, taking down 3rd seeded Hilbert 80-79 in the first round. The season came to an end in the conference semi-finals, where the Panthers fell to Penn State-Altoona 109-96.

Pitt-Bradford was led by 1st Team All-AMCC selection Nathan Schneider. The senior, who surpassed the 1,000-point milestone in just two seasons in Bradford, was a dominant force for Pitt-Bradford, leading the league in scoring (23.1 ppg), and rebounding (8.6 rpg) while finishing second in field goal percentage (57.7%) and third in assists (3.8 apg).

Moving forward, the Panthers will have a new look, as they return just 5 players from last year's squad. Headlining the returning players is Gus Napoleon, who averaged 5.7 points per game. The Panthers will look to a group of fifteen newcomers that includes a mixture of upper-class transfers and freshmen. The Panthers were selected to finish in 5th place in the AMCC Pre-season Coaches’ Poll.

Pitt-Bradford begins their season on Wednesday, November 8th, when they travel to Houghton. They will open their home schedule on Saturday, November 18th when they host Hiram at 3:00 p.m. They will play 18 AMCC matchups this season, beginning with a road trip to Wells on November 29th.
