Schneider Named 1st Team All-AMCC, Rodriguez Co-Newcomer of the Year

Bradford, Pa. -- Two members of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team picked up conference honors on Tuesday as Nathan Schneider was named 1st Team All-AMCC and Jeremy Rodriguez was named Co-Newcomer of the Year.

Nathan Schneider finished the regular season with a league-leading 22.3 points per game and was second with 8.3 rebounds per game, and third with 3.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game. In AMCC play he averaged 20.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. Schneider shot 57.1% from the field, the 2nd best in the AMCC, including 34.9% from three. Schneider made a league-high 139 free throws, shooting them at 79.9%.  He was AMCC player of the week 3 times and reached the 1,000-point milestone in just two seasons at UPB. Schneider had previously been named to the first team in the 2021-22 season.

"Nathan is the ultimate competitor and a great teammate that puts winning first," said head coach Jesse DeLoof. "He truly embodies what this program is about," he added.

Freshman Jeremy Rodriguez had a strong first campaign for the Panthers, averaging 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. Once in conference play, Rodriguez was inserted into the starting lineup and increased his scoring to 11.5 points per game and his defensive production with 2.1 steals per game. He is the first Panther men's basketball player to win newcomer of the year since Sam Moore won the award for the 2008-09 season and the 3rd Pitt-Bradford player to win the award since the AMCC was founded.

"The sky is the limit for Jeremy. He has all the physical attributes a great player needs," said DeLoof. "He has a bright future here at Pitt-Bradford."
