Panthers to Tip-off Season against Highlanders

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team will get their season underway on Tuesday night, as they will host the Houghton Highlanders in their home opener.

The Panthers went 9-16 in 2021-22, missing out on the postseason after finishing 7th in the AMCC with a 4-12 conference record. They were led by 1st Team All-AMCC selection Nate Schneider, who averaged 20.7 points (2nd in the AMCC) and 12.3 rebounds (1st in the AMCC) last season. Trey Oyler was also an important piece for the Panthers, as he led the AMCC in 3-point percentage, shooting 54.1% from beyond the arc.

The Houghton Highlanders went 4-21 last season with a 4-12 record in Empire 8 play. They were led by Jordan Holmes and Josh Jordan, who averaged 11.5 and 10.5 points per game. Holmes also led the team in rebounding at 5.8 per game. Both players have moved on, so the Highlanders will look for new leaders on the court under new head coach Jeremy Bialek.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in KOA Arena. For those unable to attend the game, live video and statistics streams will be available on the Pitt-Bradford Athletics website.
