Panthers Return to KOA Arena to Host Bobcats

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will return to the KOA Arena to host the Pitt-Bradford Bobcats on Saturday Afternoon.

The Panthers are coming off of a much-deserved bye for the midweek matchups, following a stretch that saw them play 5 games in 11 days. Despite being unable to come away with a win, the Panthers had much better performances in their last three games, being within 5 points of their opponents down the stretch. In their last game, the Panthers fell to Franciscan 85-75. They faced an 18 point lead with 8:30 to go but were able to get within 5 points in the final minutes before the Barons put the game away from the line.

Freshman Nick Carmichael leads the Panthers in scoring, posting 11.4 points per game. He also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 6.1 per game. Fellow freshman Dylan Meyer has put out a string of strong performances, averaging 12.1 points per game over his last 6 games. He has shot 61% from the field during the stretch and averaged 8.3 rebounds per game.

The Bobcats are in the midst of a strong season, as they are currently 11-3 in AMCC play and are currently 2nd place in the conference standings. Pitt-Greensburg lost their previous game, falling to Penn State-Behrend on the road by a score of 66-64. The Bobcats have 3 players that average more than 15 points per contest in Matt Johnson (16.6) Cam Seigfried (15.5) and JoJo France (15.0). Additionally, Torian Jenkins (11.9) and Cody Spaid (10.5) are also scoring in double figures this year. They are the second-highest scoring team in the conference, pouring in 81.8 points per game.

In their previous match-up, the Bobcats came away with a 76-62 win at home. The Panthers remained within one possession of the hosts through 35 minutes but saw the Bobcats pull away down the stretch. Carmichael led the Panthers with 11 points and Alex Rodriguez added 10 points. Matt Johnson led all scorers with 18, including 11 from the free-throw line.

Along with the action, Pitt-Bradford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the men's and women's tennis teams will combine their efforts to collect winter clothing items and socks during Saturday afternoon's basketball games. The two entities will be merging the SAAC for Socks and Hot Paws campaigns to donate socks and winter clothing items to those in need. During halftime, participants with donations and those who sign up will have an opportunity to win Pitt-Bradford apparel and memorabilia by tossing their donations into a hula hoop from the stands.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in KOA Arena.
