Panthers Set to Return to KOA Arena on Saturday

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team will return to their home arena for their first time since December 16th. They will host Penn State Altoona in AMCC regular-season action beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The Panthers lost their first two games of the new year on the road, but look to pick up their first win of 2020 at home. Pitt-Bradford suffered a late loss to second place Pitt-Greensburg to start the second half of their season then and struggled to score against the league's top defense, Penn State-Behrend. The Panthers head into the matchup with the lions with Nick Carmichael as their leading scorer. Carmichael is averaging 12.1 points per game. He is shooting at a 54.7% clip, which is the 9th best percentage in the league. Fellow freshman Alex Breindel has come on of late, scoring 12 and 13 points in his previous two games.

The Lions are 7-4 on the season with a 3-4 record in AMCC play. They currently sit in a tie for 6th in the conference standings. They are also coming off two losses to begin 2020, falling on the road to Medaille and Hilbert. They have 4 players averaging double figures, led by Robbie Hicks whose 15 points per game is the 10th best in the AMCC. Senior center Cameron Gardner-Nicholson averages 12.1 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game. He leads the AMCC in shooting percentage at 70.4%. Sophomores Jack Kusters and Andruw Harman also average double figures, scoring 14.3 and 11.2 points per game respectively.

Along with the game, the Pitt-Bradford tennis teams continue their "Hot Paws" campaign. The team is still collecting donations and winter clothing to provide Bradford Area schools with appropriate clothing and accessories for the winter. Items will be collected in the lobby of the McDowell Sport and Recreation Center. Additionally, Teams from the Bradford Youth Basketball League will be playing a short game at halftime.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday Afternoon.
