BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team gave Penn State-Altoona a run but fell 94-85 Wednesday night at the KOA Arena.
With the result, Pitt-Bradford drops to 2-15 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action while Penn State-Altoona improves to 6-11 in conference play.
"It was good to see several guys get involved on the offensive end tonight," Head Coach Ryan Shay said. "Desmond, Reggie and Dylan all had moments when they were in a rhythm and we did a good job moving the ball and finding them. We just needed to win a few more defensive possessions to give ourselves a better chance down the stretch."
Desmond Brogsdale dropped a career-high 25 points while Dylan Mitchell scored 18 points.
Reggie Rogers had a double-double of 16 points and 11 assists.
With 10 points, George Alston was also in double-figures for the Panthers.
Both teams collected an equal 33 rebounds. Justin Kusiappouh led Pitt-Bradford's rebounding effort with eight.
Each team also turned the ball over 14 times apiece.
Pitt-Bradford knocked down eight three-pointers with two apiece from Brogsdale, Mitchell and Jeffrey Fry.
At the line, Pitt-Bradford shot 25 free throws and made 19 while Altoona went 21-27 on chances at the charity stripe.
Pitt-Bradford jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first two minutes of the ball game.
Then, the two teams were neck-and-neck until an Altoona run put the Lions ahead 27-18 with 8:51 left to play in the first half.
The Panthers clawed back, though, as a three-ball from Ugwunna Amadi and a bucket from Alston brought it to 29-25 with just under 6:52 to go.
The Lions began to pull ahead late in the first half and took a 46-37 lead into the break.
Pitt-Bradford came out strong in the second half as back-to-back buckets from Brogsdale to start helped tighten the gap.
With Altoona ahead 10 points at the 13:22 mark, Mitchell knocked down a three-pointer to cut it to single-digits. Later a pair at the line from Brogsdale brought the score to 60-55 with just under 12 minutes left to play.
But that's as close as the Panthers would get as the Lions eventually closed the game out and held onto win.
Pitt-Bradford used its 11 offensive rebounds to create 10 second-chance points.
Brogsdale blocked a pair of shots to tie for the game lead.
Up next, Pitt-Bradford will host Penn State-Behrend Saturday to close out the regular season. Prior to the 4 p.m. tip, Pitt-Bradford will honor Desmond Brogsdale, Reggie Rogers, Dylan Mitchell, Jacob Sutton and Zach Reigel for Senior Day.
